  • Dear Treasurer Stenberg,October 2, 2018
I appreciate the professionalism, pro-activity, and results in the recovery of our property this spring. The Nebraska State Treasurer's Office online system for Unclaimed Property was efficient and successful. Meaghan (Aguirre) and Maria (Donis) provided excellent service. It gives me great joy to find yet another fine example of servant-leadership provided by our State to the Taxpayer. Continue to grow your servant-leaders while you Grow Nebraska.

Today I received the check from the State of Nebraska, Unclaimed Property, for the Chase County Schools Education Foundation/S.C.O.R.E. Camp. I want to thank you for your help in working through the process to get these funds into the proper hands. I know it was a confusing situation with the different entities and I really appreciate everything you did to make it possible. The Foundation funds SCORE camp every other summer, serving over 300 young science students for a week of hands on activities. This unclaimed property will go a long way financing our next camp!

Thank you for hosting us at the State Capitol. And thanks for all the research on my family and finding me. I truly enjoyed digging through the boxes of history at our house. I remembered many stories from my childhood, but learned much more. It was great to visit with you in person after many phone calls and emails. I'm not sure when the (oil) leases were purchased, if G.W. Hopkins had any idea they would make money for his great-granddaughter.
    With thanks,

This is a letter of appreciation for the help and guidance given me and the Mutual of Omaha Bank's Lisa Gill by Mary Jones from the Nebraska Unclaimed Property Division. She did a great and professional job helping Lisa Gill retrieve the funds of my CD, which will mature May 2018. Mutual of Omaha Bank had mistakenly given my funds to the State of Nebraska's unclaimed property division. Mary Jones put my mind as ease about the funds being there and was very courteous about answering my questions about the best way to retrieve those funds. Thank you, Mary Jones! You did a great job!

  • Dear Mr. Treasurer,March 28, 2017
I am writing with regard to a couple of unclaimed property requests I made in the last couple of months. Marilyn Marino assisted me with my claims and demonstrated an extraordinary level of care in doing so. We had repeated correspondence as I tried to get my ducks in a row, and she was incredibly helpful. It is my opinion she went above and beyond in her dedication to helping me with my claims, and for that I am incredibly grateful. As a lifelong Nebraskan, it makes me proud to have a person like Marilyn serving our state.

  • Hi, Ginny (Smith),February 3, 2017
I wanted to let you know PayPal send me a check for full payment they owed me. I received it yesterday. Thank you so much for the help you gave me. Without that, I would have been a frustrated mess and never closed this end of the business. Thank you once again.
    Your very, very grateful friend,
Hollis Adams - Dade City, Florida
(Note: Hollis, who has filed a claim on behalf of his deceased brother, sought Ginny’s help in resolving a related payment issue.)
  • Hi, Ginny (Smith),January 19, 2017
I wanted to take a moment to thank you, Don Stenberg and the staff, for taking the time and working so hard on finding unclaimed property for Nebraskans. I was notified from your division by mail that I had unclaimed property. I was not aware of this. I contacted the department to make sure it wasn't fraudulent. Kim (Ackerman) responded and she was wonderful! I filled out the papers (it was an easy process) and received the check. It couldn't have come at a better time! I wanted to make sure to tell all of you that I appreciate all you do and keep up the good work! You will bring many smiles to people whom need it, as I did.
    Thank you again... God bless.

Your completion of this unclaimed insurance policy made the six grandchildren of our mother, Marjorie Gillin, very happy this Christmas. They range in ages from 48 to 59. As one said, "It went right into our son's college fund." Thank you for your perseverance and necessary assistance. I don't know you, but you are a wonderful representative of the State of Nebraska. Thank you, Ginny.

I would like to let you know that I have received the money. I cannot thank you enough for your help and kindness. To tell you the truth, when I received a letter from you two months ago, I thought it was some kind of scam at first. But I am happy I was wrong. Your support and kindness made me trust you. I will never forget all you did for me. I thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Thanks for the speedy service, I received the check yesterday. If you or your boss is looking for feedback, I like the fact that Nebraska is on board with using technology. E-mailing me and having me just send scanned documents to you was really great. I am in the process of recovering some of Phyllis's property in Missouri, and it is a slow process that involves regular mail, and that's it. Thanks again.
