Congratulations to the first- and second-place teams in the statewide Personal Finance Challenge sponsored by the Nebraska Council on Economic Education headquartered at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.
First-place team members from Norris High School each will receive a $2,000 scholarship contribution to a Nebraska Educational Savings Trust (NEST) college savings account. Second-place team members from Alliance High School each will receive a $1,000 NEST college savings account contribution.
Treasurer Stenberg presented certificates to the first-place team May 6 at Norris High School. He said the Norris team’s presentation at the regional competition in Lincoln was impressive. The team “was particularly good at getting down to detail,” he said. The team ranked 12th in the national competition May 2 in St. Louis.
“As the chief financial officer of the state, I am committed to helping young people attain a greater understanding of personal finance so that, as adults, they will be smart consumers and wise investors and will be able to contribute to the economic well-being of our state. One way my office demonstrates that commitment is by providing significant scholarships for winning teams in the annual Personal Finance Challenge,” Treasurer Stenberg said.
