Good Day!

Our staff members are back in the office after a summer and autumn of fairs, festivals, trade shows, and outreach seminars. They traversed the state from Scottsbluff and Sidney on the west to Omaha on the east; from South Sioux City in the northeast to McCook in the southwest. In between they visited North Platte, Norfolk, and Nebraska City.

Unclaimed Property Director Meaghan Aguirre
Treasurer Stenberg with Rachel Biar, director of College Savings Program, right, and Tinamarie Probyn with First National Bank of Omaha at Werner Park in Papillion.

Their messages were specific to three unique programs in the Treasurer’s Office—college savings, unclaimed property, and child support—yet, overall their message was the same: the Nebraska State Treasurer’s Office exists to serve all the people of Nebraska and to make its services, programs, and processes available and easily accessible to all.

Fulfilling our mission

Out staff fulfills that mission by conducting seminars across the state for employers who remit child support on behalf of their employees. Sixteen one-hour seminars were conducted by Tom Hinds, outreach director for the Nebraska Child Support Payment Center, one of the divisions of the Treasurer’s Office.

Meeting with families

And our College Savings Program director Rachel Biar fulfilled that mission as well as she traveled to eight events, including our second annual NESTFests for families. At NESTFest events in Grand Island and Norfolk, she met and visited with many families who wanted to know more about how to save for their children’s college educations.

Our Treasury Management Division fulfills our outreach mission right here at home in the State Capitol. By phone, email, meetings, and computer software programs, our Treasury Management specialists provide services and support every day to state agencies, county treasurers and clerks, big and small banks, volunteer firefighters and rescue workers, private vendors, and hard-working Nebraskans.

Our staff has a few more outreach events scheduled for 2012, so we look forward to seeing you on the road in Nebraska. Read more about other events in the Treasurer’s Office below.
