Lucky Winner Receives $1,000 for College Savings in Fantastic Future Me Scholarship Drawing
15 New NEST Account Owners Earn $25 Bonuses

The winner of the Fantastic Future Me scholarship drawing at the Riverside Discovery Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska, was announced today by First National Bank of Omaha and Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg.

Andrew Lindberg, of Omaha, Nebraska, received a $1,000 contribution to a NEST 529 college savings account. In addition, 15 new NEST account owners each received a $25 bonus contribution to a NEST account.

The scholarship and bonuses were offered as part of the Fantastic Future Me exhibit, which was on display Aug. 15 to Dec. 15 in the Don Steen Heritage Room at the Riverside Discovery Center Heritage Barn. The interactive exhibit, created by the Omaha Children’s Museum and Gallup, allowed children to envision themselves in future roles by creating personalized, one-of-a-kind avatars.

The first 50 new NEST college savings accounts using a location-specific promotion code were eligible to each receive a $25 contribution into an account. All new account owners using the code also were entered in the $1,000 scholarship drawing.

“At NEST, we focus on the importance of children dreaming about their futures and planning for what they might want to do when they grow up. We also focus on helping parents and grandparents save for those dreams and plans. Our focus fits perfectly with this traveling exhibit as children explore career possibilities through Fantastic Future Me. How these children envision their futures is up to them, but the adults in their lives have a very important role to play in how the children get there,” said Treasurer Stenberg, Trustee of NEST.

“Our team at NEST is always looking for ways to motivate children to dream for their futures and for parents to save for those dreams. The Fantastic Future Me tour allows us to do that in a fun, interactive way,” said Deborah Goodkin, Managing Director, Savings Plans at First National Bank of Omaha. “As children visualize what their future may hold—from becoming artists, to scientists, to teachers and even President of the United States—we are happy to help pave the financial path that will direct them to their dreams.”
