First National Bank of Omaha and Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg are pleased to announce the winners of the Cute Baby! Photo Drawing. Winners will receive a total of more than $10,000 in scholarships, including grand prize winners who will receive $5,000, $2,500 and $1,500 respectively.
The Cute Baby! Photo Drawing gave families across the United States the opportunity to submit photos of their babies ages newborn to 18 months. By uploading a photo and providing basic contact information, the family was registered to win. Winners were randomly drawn from those who entered.
Additionally, the following winners were awarded scholarships in smaller amounts.
“The NEST Cute Baby! Photo Drawing provided an exciting opportunity for families to get a head start on college savings for their little ones,” said Deborah Goodkin, Managing Director of NEST at First National Bank of Omaha, the NEST Program Manager. “Our hope is that the drawing prompted families to begin thinking about starting early to save for college.”
“We encourage families to start saving early for college through our Nebraska Educational Savings Trust to ensure that the resources are available when families need the resources the most. Saving early enables families to build up sizeable accounts that can be used at four-year colleges, community colleges, technical schools, and advanced educational programs across the United States and in many schools abroad,” Treasurer Stenberg said. “Viewing these NEST Cute Baby! photos reminds all of us at NEST of the importance of our work and of the need to encourage families to save for the future.”
Annually, NEST awards more than $100,000 to families inside and outside of Nebraska through a number of scholarship initiatives. The prizes were provided by First National Bank of Omaha.
