Treasurer Don Stenberg welcomed six international visitors on Friday, Nov. 15, and shared with them information about Nebraska’s state budget and the state’s financial transparency website, www.NebraskaSpending.gov.
The guests were invited to the United States under the auspices of the U.S. Department of State’s International Visitor Leadership Program. Their visit to Lincoln was arranged through the Mayor’s Committee for International Friendship and the Lincoln Council for International Visitors.
The international guests, representing the fields of government, law, and journalism, are in the United States to study accountability in government. They also are visiting San Diego, Chicago, and Washington, D.C. Lincoln was chosen as one of the sites because of the state’s ranking in financial transparency and accountability. Other state capital cities to be visited are Des Moines, Iowa, and Topeka, Kansas.
