First National Bank of Omaha and Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg today announced the NEST on the Farm Fun Photo $1,000 Drawing. Beginning April 1 and ending June 30, Nebraska residents can submit farm- or ranch-themed photos of children 13 years old or younger to be eligible for a drawing to win six $1,000 NEST College Savings Plan contributions.

“NEST on the Farm has been a popular scholarship opportunity that introduces children to the concept of saving for college and highlights one of Nebraska’s greatest resources, its farm, ranch, and outdoor life. We are excited to see the photographs submitted to this year’s drawing,” said State Treasurer Stenberg. “This initiative not only connects children with farms, ranches, and nature, but it also encourages families to save for the future.”

To enter, the beneficiary must be 13 years of age or younger as of June 30, 2016. Submissions will be split into two age groups – newborn to 5 years old and 6 to 13 years old. NEST will select one winner from each age group in each of Nebraska’s three congressional districts. A total of six winners will receive $1,000 each in a NEST College Savings Plan contribution.

“The best part about this program is it is easy for kids to enter,” said Deborah Goodkin, Managing Director, Savings Plans, First National Bank of Omaha. “Parents, grandparents, and friends are invited to snap fun photos of children who are 13 years old or younger in farm or ranch settings and submit them to us. Children themselves are encouraged to take their own photos in farm or ranch settings and submit them to the contest as well. We hope this teaches kids from our state that with time, preparation, and perhaps a touch of creativity, anyone can embark on the road to college.”

Winners will be announced at the Nebraska State Fair in Grand Island.

Photos may be submitted by email or regular mail, following the official guidelines.
