'NEST on the Farm' Fun Photo Contest 2015
NEST 529 to Award $6,000 to Kids for Farm-Theme Photos
Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg, First National Bank Announce New Program

The NEST on the Farm Fun Photo $1,000 Drawing, sponsored by NEST 529 College Savings and First National Bank of Omaha, was announced today by Nebraska State Treasurer Don Stenberg at the Lincoln Children’s Zoo. This program offers children an opportunity to submit a farm-themed photo for a chance to win one of six $1,000 NEST 529 scholarships.

The contest is open to children ages 13 and younger who live in Nebraska. All who submit photos will be placed in a drawing, and six will be randomly drawn to receive $1,000 scholarships each. Two winners will be chosen from each of Nebraska’s three congressional districts in two age groups: newborn-5 and 6-13.

To enter, the child must be in the farm-themed photo or must have taken the photo. Each entry must include a caption of no more than 15 words describing the photo. A digital file of the photo must be emailed to NEST@fnni.com on or before May 23.

“We’re delighted to see Nebraska’s strong tradition of farming and ranching and the beauty of the state through the eyes of children,” said Deborah Goodkin, Managing Director, College Savings Plans, First National Bank of Omaha.

“Our purpose for this drawing is to acquaint young families with our college savings program and to acquaint young children with farm and rural life. Another reason for us to be here today is to encourage school children to start learning early about saving for their dreams,” Treasurer Stenberg said.

“Just remember, save your money, don’t spend more than you have, be patient, and ask your parents for advice when it comes to decisions about your money,” Stenberg told the children from Roper Elementary School who were in the audience for the kick off while visiting the zoo.

Entries to the drawing are due on or before May 23, 2015. Six winners will be recognized at the Nebraska State Fair.

Each scholarship will be awarded to the child who submits the winning entry and will be deposited into an account owned by the Nebraska Educational Savings Trust, held on behalf of the winner.
